The Pumpkin Carving Winner is…

Jake!!!

DSCN2001 Like I said in my previous post…his pumpkin carving abilities were amazingly good.  I knew he was going to win!

So it’s another chilly, overcast day in Portland…sometimes I don’t mind all of the gray, but today I’m wishing it was sunny.  Oh well.  Because of the dreary weather, it was the perfect day for oatmeal!

DSCN2029 There is something about oatmeal that tastes so good when it’s cold out.  I made 1/2 cup of oats and topped it with some raisins and about a tablespoon of natural peanut butter.  Yum.

Peanut butter has always been a food I’ve been obsessed with; for years now (seriously, years…) it’s been a food I eat, without fail, on a daily basis.  When I got pregnant though, I started hating peanut butter…it was my longest stretch without it!  I think I went like 6 weeks without.  I just started eating it again last week and I’m in love all over again.  I really do think it’s my all time favorite food.  Well, that and sushi (which you can’t eat when you’re pregnant and I miss it soooooo much).

Is it weird that I’m listening to Christmas music already?

Jake, Lola and I are off to hike this morning…here’s to hoping we beat the rain!

    Jake’s was a little scarier I thought :P

Love eating oatmeal in the morning especially when it’s cold. Haven’t tried PB in mine yet…may have to give that a go!

Halloween definitely gets me in the mood for Christmas! Whenever Halloween comes, I know Thanksgiving is right around the corner, then Christmas is next. Break out those holiday tunes! :)

Thank goodness the PB craving is back. I bet it tasted SO good after all that time without it.

    Happy Halloween!

Can’t believe you went off peanut butter for so long! wowzers!

So did you tell people right away that you were pregnant or did you wait until your 3 month scan once you knew everything was a-ok ?? :)

    Love the pumpkin!

Hot cereal on a cold day is delish… I just went 3 1/2 weeks without nut butter and now can’t get enough of it :D

and yeah, the pdx weather is kinda sucky, but i like that there’s lots of weather that calls for things like baking and oats and soup…

Wow what an awesome pumpkin! What an artist! The weather here has been crappy all week. Luckily today it was sunny for the first time in days, though – still cold, but sunny at least:D

Girl, I’ve been secretly listening to Christmas music since I started my 100 day countdown (Sept 16th). Yeah, I am a little obsessed.

    Awesome pumpkin!!
For me, I never liked PB that much until recently. My mom OD-ed on peanuts too when she was pregnant!

I think it’s awesome that you’re singing Christmas songs already! :-) Have fun on your hike!

I am guessing that today, the day after Halloween, we will see everything Christmas-themed in the stores. We’ve already had snow in Boston….’tis the season!

I’m glad you got your taste for peanut butter back :)

Seriously, they were both good though. Your oatmeal looks so yummy.

Those food aversions are so funny – I’m glad that’s behind you.

If you’re 16 weeks… when are you due? April? You’ll probably start feeling the baby move soon too! Oh this is such an exciting time, and this comment has nothing to do with this post really, I’m still smiling from your post a few days ago that I’m just now getting to read!! :D

Most of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your first baby!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhh that is SO darn exciting!!!! I hope you keep us posted on the progress of your baby! I’d love to see more pictures of him or her.

I agree that cold days somehow just make oatmeal an obvious choice.

Have a fabulous Sunday girl! And stop by if you’d like to win some flax crackers!
